The British Martial Arts & Boxing Association (BMABA) is a professional, community led and politics free national body that represents & supports more than 250+ different styles of combat sports and martial arts in the UK.

Unlike some martial arts associations the BMABA is leading the industry in terms of it’s abilities to regulate standards, govern fairly and help it’s member clubs grow without politics or interference.

Our association was founded in 2012 by Giovanni Soffietto, a martial arts instructor passionate to see a change in culture within the martial arts industry – a shift to professional standards and quality martial arts instruction whilst upholding the time honoured traditions that make our arts so unique.

Frustrated by a lack of affordable, transparent governing bodies able to understand and represent multi styled and single styled disciplines, the BMABA (British Martial Arts & Boxing Association) was established as a safe-haven for those instructors and senseis looking to form a lasting relationship with a national body interested in protecting their best interests.

As our grassroots operation developed into a national presence we’ve managed to maintain the very values and ethics that helped us enter the industry on day one. Today we continue to deliver a friendly, personable yet highly professional service that’s considered by so many to be one the best in the industry.

Our association began primarily working with instructors, coaches & senseis, however we now have an active part in dealing with students, parents, councils and authorities. The BMABA (British Martial Arts & Boxing Association) aims to provide the modern instructor with every resource & tool they could ever need under just one membership.

Support, guidance, websites, equipment, insurance, student licensing, certification, membership, advertising, business support, syllabus approvals, technical development and so, so much more all under a single, affordable price tag.

What’s more, our association is ran by it’s own members and represented by a voluntary committee made up of respected BMABA members from across the community. We focus on being honest and transparent in everything we do and work to protect every  martial arts instructor and boxing coach that calls us home.

We champion the importance of everybody having self defence skills and self protection awareness and actively drive new students into your classes

As A Wider Organisation

 We promote participation in martial arts and self defence as a whole, promoting health lifestyles, social cohesion and self protection skills.

 We champion self defence training for adults and children, ensuring everyone has the necessary and essential skills to be aware of self protection issues.

 We research and build records on martial arts as a collective, working towards a national database of instructors and researching the industry as a whole in more detail.

 We develop martial arts from grass roots levels, helping more people find safe clubs, and educating the wider public on the benefits and skills martial arts training can bring.
